Why You’ll Love It

These Greek yogurt popsicles are an easy way to satisfy your sweet tooth while fueling your body with nutrient-dense ingredients. They’re perfect for summer, but honestly, great year-round if you like to keep something cold and refreshing in the freezer. Plus, they are kid-friendly!

  • Naturally higher in protein: Thanks to the Greek yogurt base, each popsicle delivers 4 grams of protein to help keep you full between meals.
  • Fiber and antioxidants in every bite: Whole fruits like berries, mango, or pineapple add fiber and antioxidants that support gut health, digestion, and balanced energy.
  • Endless flavor options: You can mix and match fruits, add-ins, or toppings to make these popsicles your own.
  • Minimal effort required: No cooking or complicated steps needed. Just blend, pour into molds, and freeze. The prep time is a breeze!
  • Freezer-friendly and snack-ready: Keep a batch on hand so you’ve always got a quick, refreshing snack ready to go.
  • PCOS-friendly: This recipe checks all the boxes for blood sugar balance: protein, fiber, antioxidants, and healthy carbs – all of which support hormone health and reduce cravings.

Protein Popsicle Ingredients

This easy, sweet treat recipe comes together with just a few simple, customizable ingredients. You’ll likely have most on hand already!

ingredients for a strawberry protein popsicle recipe.
  • Greek yogurt: I generally use 2% or whole milk Greek yogurt for the best texture and flavor. It also adds probiotics to support gut health.

  • Fruit of choice: Use any diced fruit you prefer such as mixed berries, mango, pineapple, or a combination. Choose your favorite fruit, what’s in season, or what you have on hand. Fruit adds fiber, natural sweetness, and antioxidants. You can even sprinkle in shredded coconut for extra texture.

  • Honey or agave: A little honey or agave sweetens the popsicles without making them overly sweet. You could also substitute maple syrup or your preferred sweetener of choice. Adjust the amount based on your taste or the sweetness of your fruit.

  • Vanilla extract: A splash of vanilla helps round out the flavor and makes the homemade protein popsicles taste like a creamy frozen dessert.

How to Make It

Step One: Blend the Ingredients

In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine the Greek yogurt, diced fruit, honey (or agave), and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

Tip: For chunkier popsicles, pulse the mixture instead of fully blending to keep some fruit pieces.

Step Two: Pour Into Popsicle Molds

Pour the blended yogurt mixture into silicone popsicle molds, leaving a small space at the top for expansion. Insert wooden popsicle sticks.

Tip: Silicone molds work best because they make it easier to remove the popsicles once frozen.

Step Three: Freeze

Place the molds in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until completely frozen.

Step Four: Remove and Enjoy

When ready to eat, run the outside of the molds under warm water for a few seconds to loosen the popsicles. Then gently pull them out and enjoy!

Tips, Variations, + Substitutions

Want to change things up? Here are some easy ways to customize these protein-packed popsicles.

  • Try different fresh fruit. Use strawberries, blueberries, mango, pineapple, peaches, or a mix of whatever you have on hand.
  • Need a dairy-free option? Swap the Greek yogurt for a full fat plant-based regular yogurt with added protein, like almond or coconut yogurt.
  • Want a protein boost? For the highest protein content, add a scoop of whey protein powder, vegan protein powder, or collagen peptides to the blender for extra high-quality protein per pop. I would use a vanilla protein powder flavor.
  • If you want to create chocolate protein popsicles, you can choose chocolate protein powder or add some cocoa powder.
  • You can also add a nut butter, such as peanut butter, almond butter or cashew butter, for extra protein and fiber.
  • Looking for extra texture? Sprinkle shredded coconut, mini chocolate chips, or crushed nuts into the molds before freezing. Crushed nuts will pack on more grams of fiber, too.
  • Make smoothie pops. Use this recipe as a base and blend in spinach, chia seeds, or flaxseeds for a nutrient-packed frozen smoothie.
  • Prefer low sugar popsicles? Use lower-sugar fruits like berries and reduce or omit the honey if your fruit is a natural sweetener.

How to Store It

Keep these protein popsicles stored in the freezer in the popsicle mold or remove them and store in a freezer bag or airtight container

They’ll keep well for up to 2 months, and you can pull them out on the next hot summer day when you’re craving a fun snack with simple ingredients.

Tip: If you remove the popsicles from the mold ahead of time, wrap each one in parchment paper for best results to prevent them from sticking together.
